My Pet Ram is pleased to present Light Chasers featuring new paintings by Kathryn Lynch and Charlotte Lethbridge. Both painters carry landscapes like tokens, taking snippets of life back to their studios where they capture their unique recollections of a place. Landscapes are simple vessels used to depict an elemental thought. Memories surge through heavy skies, bicycles and the paths they follow. Kathryn and Charlotte recall distant locations –Italy and Long Island respectively– that remain close through the work. Light is an especially pronounced link in this grouping of paintings, a flowing conduit between the artists. Incandescent color radiates from sources, both natural and artificial. At times, light pokes through hazy clouds, while in other moments, it flares and burns. Without the ability to remain fixed in a moment, the artists chase light, not in an effort to contain but rather to exalt the bright trace of memory, shedding light on our human predicament.

Light Chasers will be on view Friday, November 5, 2022 through Sunday, December 4, 2022. A reception will be held on Friday, November 11 from 6-9pm. The Santa Barbara gallery is located at 16 Helena Avenue one block off Cabrillo Boulevard in the Funk Zone. Gallery hours are Friday-Sunday from 12-7pm and by appointment.
